Topping the list of best ATV destinations in Pennsylvania is Snow Shoe Rail Trail , Snow Shoe is located in mid state Pennsylvania right next to state college and provides a wide variety of ridding conditions, sort of like a Pa turnpike, with allot of exits where the rider can choose different challenges from hill climbs to mud pits. Also along the trail are points for eating at local restaurants, and in the works are access to fuel, and hotels to stay at. PaAtving has ridden and worked the Snow Shoe trail system since 2002, here is an article when we help replace bridges on the trail system. Chicken Dinner 2003 |

Second on the list is a state trail system, "Sproul state forest", located in the center of the state just north of Snow Shoe in Clinton County. PaAtving has ridden this trail system many times. It is part of the DCNR state ATV trail system that has been around since the late 1980's, during that time it has been much improved to include "primitive" camp sites that a family could use over a week end. A camping permit is required for overnight stays, though daily stays require no reservation, all Pennsylvania state ATV laws apply, registration and insurance.Sproul State Forest, 15187 Renovo Road, Renovo, PA 17764 |

Our third spot goes to a Federal Trail system located in the Alleghany National forest, located in the north western part of the state. PaAtving has ridden this trail system for years and the "Feds" do know how to run a trail system, winter, or summer, (conditions permitting). The ANF requires a $35 (yearly) trail permit on top of state registration and insurance. This trail system consists of about a 100 miles of trails on three systems. |
